  1. I thought my boyfriend and I had a long age gap already (8 years). And they're what, 83 years apart? Heck.
  2. We went to my brother's school Halloween Party last night. His school is new, so there are only 10 students, but the party was a blast. The school owner had guests (to promote their school perhaps), it was very fun. The kids went trick or treating in all the classrooms, some were completely scared and started crying - but they did get lots of candies. The food was great. Can't wait till next year. I dressed up as Valentina, the local version of Medusa.
  3. They don't have birth certificates in Somalia?
  4. I think Mirinae's local name is Santi. haven't felt its wrath in the southern islands. Which makes me quite happy that I live FAAAAR away from the capital.
  5. 9 letter word with one vowel: Strengths! 6 letter word without any vowel: SYZYGY and no, I did not use Google. Haha! Kidding.
  6. Actually, I'd like to take back what I said about not getting the millions at all. LOL. I'd probably want to try the feeling of being a millionaire, but I don't want to blow it off. I'll probably build a house here in my home city, and tour the world perhaps. Invest in some stuff.. Get myself a new wardrobe! Put some money in the bank for my daughter. Oh! A car, too. I don't need plenty of cars, I can live with one..or maybe to. Heck, I might just end up like Antoine Walker in the long run! Haha!
  7. He was 67. He could have had a heart attack..maybe.
  8. Antoine Walker of the Celtics made more than $110 in 12 years while playing pro. Take away some of that for taxes and throw in some edorsement money - that would be about sixty to sixty five million perhaps. That wasn't enough, however, because for the past couple of months, he has been pursued by plenty of financial institutions because of unpaid debt. In fact he even owes more that $4 million in unpaid debts, and may face a felony charge for check fraud. So not cool at all. So, now this gets you thinking - how would someone like that start to lose all that cash? Well, here's a list of cash blowing things that most probably ate up all his money: 1. His mother has estimated that during his playing days, he moved around in an outsized entourage, housing and feeding around 70 friends and family members at one time. 2. He built his mother a mansion in Chicago which had ten bathrooms, a full size basketball court and even an indoor pool . 3. He bought a lot of cars, two Bentleys and two Mercedez Benz, a Cadillac Escalade, a Hummer and a Range Rover. And not only that, he often had the vehicles pimped with rims, sound systems and custom paint jobs. 4. He also collected Rolexes and Cartier watches (ouch). 5. He was also a too-generous team mate and friend, giving money to underprivileged kids, paying for team dinners and giving custom made suits for his coaches. All that (and more) eventually ate up all the money that he made. And I can only say to myself - poor guy. Know what, I'd rather not experience the life of a (multi)millionaire, if I get to end up broke in the long run. That would probably break my heart. What about you, what would you have done with $60+ millions?
  9. I don't think they lash you 1000 times on one time. Some men get several lashes every Friday for other cases. I think this goes until you finish the required lashings. So 50 lashings per Friday would mean twenty Fridays! Haha. Or that's what I was told.
  10. Halloween is one of the oldest celebrations in the world. Up to now, it is still celebrated by numerous countries and cultures all around the world - and has still have great influence on numerous cultures of today. Where Halloween Started? The ancient Celts had a festival called Samhain, and this is considered by a lot of people to be the predecessor of the contemporary Halloween that we have now. For the Celts, Samhain was they New Year's Day, and this was celebrated on November the 1st.It was a harvest festival that marked the previous year's death and the new year's beginning. At the same time, it was also a day to commemorate the dead - as it was believed that all the souls of the people who died the previous year would already be allowed access to the land of the dead. There are plenty of traditional customs and beliefs that have been associated with the Samhain, and among these are: - The belief that the night was the time when the dead would wander around. - The practice of leaving food offerings to costumed and masked revelers - The lighting of bonfires (All sounds familiar, eh?) So, Why Do We Wear Costumes? The costume wearing tradition has roots in both Celtic and European cultures. During the ancient European times, winter days were short, harsh and dark (therefore scary). People were filled with nagging and constant worry. So during Halloween (the day they believed the dead to go back and roam the earth), they would wear masks when they would leave their homes, so that the spirits would not recognize them. The ancient Celtic villagers would also wear costumes to look like the souls of the dead. They would dance all the way out of town in order to lead the dead that way. Halloween is Celebrated in plenty of countries all over the world, and each country has their own distinct approach. What does your country do on Halloween?
  11. You know what, aside from just dieting, I think nothing works just as well as plain old exercising.
  12. No. Not just for love. LOL.
  13. Are there beauty contests for Ladyboys as well?
  14. Biko is usually made at home for special occasions or for merienda, but there are some street vendors or sari - sari stores (small stores) that sell these as well. You may happen to chance on Some Filipino snack bars (especially those that serve real filipino food and not western food). They may also serve biko or snack for dessert as well.
  15. Even priests can't abstain! Try watching the news!
  16. I suppose so. It's just funny how the kids learn socialization skills at school - they don't really learn proper and good socialization skills because they're always made to shut up and not talk unless called during class hours. They get to learn socialization skills from their peers, who are just as unexperienced as them, during recess and lunch. Don't we ever wonder why our kids come home one day and spill out names and curses (mild or not) from their mouths? But I sUPPOSse that's better than no socialization at all, eh?
  17. Its funny because a lot of people here eat PLENTY of vegetables to "supposedly" keep them healthy, but they still live sedentary lifestyles.
  18. True, gender selection isn't a great reason for abortion. There are plenty of valid reasons as to why one should have an abortion. Another thing - why not just practice safe/protected sex so as not to have a baby in the first place?
  19. I remember my friend talking about his surgery. He lives in the USA but had the lasik procedure done here in the Philippines because he said it was cheaper. One second he was staring up at the doctor, the next second he wasn't able to see anything at all. And he smelled something burning - it was his eyeball! The surgery went well, by the way. But I think I'd be too chicken to try it.
  20. True. I just like the idea that I can teach her the lessons that she gets in shcool the whole day in just three hours at home. Think about it, she can learn violin or ballet or art - or even the three of them in the afternoon!
  21. Oh you should try it! On the contrary, Mangoes are indeed very popular in the Philippines. It is even in fact deemed as our National fruit . I don't know why we don't have mangoes on our sticky rice, though. I think it's probably because mangoes are a bit expensive to buy regularly. Sometimes, we put a little coconut meat and some coconut milk on our biko. In some biko versions, they mix some jackfruit shreds just to add to the scent and flavor. The biko is already sweet on its own, I'm not sure how it would taste with the mango - but then again, you just gave me an ideaq.
  22. Sad news for this case. It wasn't abduction after all. But still, a sad end to this. http://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=10602897 http://www.smh.com.au/world/distraught-parents-deal-with-grief-after-toddler-aislings-body-found-20091013-guc9.html
  23. Hahah. that's why you have a negative one. I actually thought you posted and offensive post somewhere. LOL
