  1. Press Conference - 7 Jan 2010 BED RACE AND FAMILY FAIR Last year’s Bed Race received so much press attention and became an instant success event in the history of Pattaya receiving international press coverage on TV, Internet and print around the world. We are pleased to announce that the second “Pattaya International Bed Race†will take place on Sunday 31st January 2010. This will be bigger with more than 20,000 people attending with an expected 100 bed racing teams taking part. A whole day’s event is planned with lots of entertainment including a bed parade. There will be a Family Fair starting at 12.00 noon with games and lots of fun and after the actual bed race there will be a big Rotary New Year Party. The location is Pattaya Second Road in front of The Avenue Pattaya shopping mall. The route of the race will start and end at The Avenue. Teams will turn left into Soi 12, then left into Pattaya Beach Road, then turning left into South Pattaya Road, and back into Second Road to the finishing line in front of The Avenue Pattaya. Organized by the Rotary Club of Pattaya in partnership with Pattaya City Hall, the Bed Race will provide a great social activity for everyone in the Pattaya community to participate and enjoy! Hopefully, it will bring all the clubs, community groups and businesses together and attract sponsors for this unique, not to be missed, event in Thailand. The main sponsors this year are: The Avenue Pattaya, Global i-care (Pattaya GIC Card), BarterCard, CTLS Language School, Mercure Hotel and Pattaya People Media Group. The idea of a Bed Race is a very popular fundraising and family activity in many countries around the world including the UK, USA, Australia and New Zealand. It is a tried and tested successful way of raising money for local charities and community projects. It involves teams of up to 6 members dressed as outrageous and funny as possible, pushing their spectacularly decorated beds from a designated starting point to the finishing line. The object is to not only get to the line in the shortest time but also to keep the designated passenger to remain on the bed at all times. This second Bed Push Race in Pattaya will be a major undertaking by the Rotary Club of Pattaya and will undoubtedly help promote Pattaya as a fun, family resort. It will provide good wholesome family entertainment in a safe environment, whilst bringing together the multi faceted groups working for a better community, and will become an annual event on the Pattaya Calendar. http://www.pattayabedrace.com/index.php
  2. Fir the Super Bowl, Indy is a 6 point favorite. The over/under is 56.5
  3. A water fight on a soi can be fun. But sitting on a baht bus a full 8 days before the end of Songkran and being completely drenched with cold water is not fun for me.
  4. I would not be a happy camper without my laptop, though in the States and old desktop served the same function. Here in Thailand, I suppose I need my cheap charlie phone, though at home I didn't have a mobile, kept my home phone unplugged. I could live without TV though. Ipads, Kindles etc., glad I don't need them.
  5. Kind of like going away to college but not having to go to classes.
  6. I'd like it too if it were only one, two, or even three days.
  7. Could have come up with a better name though.....sounds like a sanitary napkin for the new millenium.
  8. Maybe you like Songkran because you're in CM instead of Pattaya, Bob?
  9. The good thing about confession is that it gives one a fresh start.
  10. The Pro Bowl is this weekend. Think it's a good idea to have it the week before the Super Bowl rather than the week after.
  11. Me too but when it rains I tend to wear sneakers and white sox instead of sandals.
  12. An Irishman goes into the confessional box after years of being away from the Church. There's a fully equipped bar with Guinness on tap. On the other wall is a dazzling array of the finest cigars and chocolates. Then the priest comes in. "Father, forgive me, for it's been a very long time since I've been to confession, but I must first admit that the confessional box is much more inviting than it used to be." The priest replies: "Get out. You're on my side."
  13. Might be easier to just use a condom.
  14. I'm not saying the Harvard MBA program is easy, but if you don't care about grades, someone of average intelligence can get by. The difficulty is getting the great grades that opens the doors to Wall Street and the premier consulting firms. This didn't matter to George Junior. So W did what he does best, make friends and be in the right study groups. Can a blithering idiot get a Harvard MBA? No, Not the type that needs tutors to stay in an undergraduate sports program.
  15. I disgree. They've been there, done that. Look for something different.
  16. While sportswriters will praise his guts, it certainly didn't help his team. Before his last interception, it would have been a 51 yard field goal, possible but low probabilty. On that play, if he wasn't hobbling around, he could have run and picked up another 5-7 years. Very bad pass and would have been better to just throw it away.
  17. Need to buy a cheap pair of swimming trunks and some cheap white socks. Squirter already is in my hong nam.
  18. Yup, hard to resist going back for seconds even if we're not really hungry anymore.
  19. What's commonly refered to as a "retirement visa" has another name, something like Non-Immigrant O or Non immigrant OA or maybe I'm confusing with blood types.
  20. I knew the admissions director at the Wharton so tried to get into their MBA program. I had totally goofed off at college so he really couldn't help me out though. If it was a close call I would have gotten in. Turned out to be for the best as I took another path that didn't require hefty tuition that worked out well for me.
  21. The planes were unexpected and the next wave terrorist attack on the scale of 9/11 will also be unexpected. Perhaps poisoning a cities water supply?
