Looks great in Firefox though! The whole layout of the forum is different for me in Firefox. It was so ugly/lopsided in IE that it was difficult to navigate.

Not at all. I am concerned about vehicular accidents though. I would rent a motobike in a busy area such as Bangkok or Pattaya unless you ride a motorcycle in your home country.

$5000 is plenty. Since airfare is an expensive compoment, try to figure out how you can fly for free. You'd be surprised how many frequent flyer miles you can get for things other than flying.

I won't swim in Pattaya, Jomtien or Dongtan either. Some guys go in but keep their head above water. Ko Lan is a good day trip but in practice I don't go very often.

I live in Pattaya, it's the city that never sleeps, but truth be told the beach is not Pattaya's strong suit. If you're looking for tropical paradise and love to swim in the ocean go somewhere else. Thailand has many beautiful islands, some quiet and others with vibrant nightlife. Phuket and Ko Samui have nightlife similar to Pattaya but on a much smaller scale. Ko PhanGan is the favorite of backpackers, with a full moon all night rave everymonth. Pattaya is all about sex with close to 100,000 girls, boys, and ladyboys just dyin to meet ya. If that's what you're looking for then goforit. If not, skip it.
