  1. I'm curious, is Thailand as repressed about homosexuality as the States? Do they have all the gay-bashing, the stupid anti-gay rhetoric, and the BS about banning gay marriage?

The Buddhist religion makes no comment regarding homosexuality, so there is no outward stigma. Privately, some parents have a very different attitude toward their gay children. Thai people more or less believe "mai pen rai", don't worry, never mind.

I am completely at awe at how Thailand accepts homosexuality. I am not homosexual, by the way, I am straight. But I have plenty of friends and two cousins who are gay. Being friends with them since puberty and now up to adulthood, I have witnessed how some of them have struggled to find acceptance, not just in society, but first and foremost, in their families. It is a difficult thing to see.

So to say, the stigma against homosexuals is still strong in our counrty, The Philippines. Maybe it's due to our religion - but maybe it's just because of the narrow minds of present day society. I have always believed that if the god we believe in is an accepting god, then he would embrace homosexuals just as he would straight males and females.

I was reading up on this topic a few days back, and I would like to quote a line that has struck me most:

"Buddhism, which is deeply embedded in everyday Thai life, has always been the mediator with regard to social differences, and thus, where gaps in understanding exist, acceptance takes over."

When that will happen in our country - I have no idea. But I have gladly cheered on behind and beside my two cousins as they came out of the closet, and I would gladly cheer on for other friends as well.

  2. Hahaha! I know. The Kaong, the nata de coco and the fruits just add to the color. Glad you like it. You can also try using fresh fruits instead of the ones from the can. Add in avocado/lychees/bananas aside from the usual mangoes, papayas and pineapples. It tastes a whole lot different - but good, nevertheless, especially if you're a tropical fruit fan.

  3. Well. Basic question. Some of you may be residing in Thailand. Some of you may have been born there, but may now be living somewhere else. Some of you may have been born and may have lived somewhere else for most of your life, but have chosen Thailand as your home. Or, some of you may have visited the country at least once, twice or a couple of times during you life. Or lastly, some of you may never have been to Thailand.

But all the same, we're here visiting this site. So tell me, what is it about Thailand that you love?

  4. I would have to disagree. The best part of a girl, in my humble opinion, is the nice round ass.

Do you know that Callipygian (Callipygous) refers to having round shaped buttocks? And our fascination for round asses or full breasts began as primates?

Early female primates who didn't stand upright attracted male primates or sent sexual messages of their readiness to breed through their round and full buttocks. As human beings developed and stood upright, therefore communicating on a daily basis by facing each other, the preference for the ass was put aside as females humans started to develop round and fleshy breasts (this is not because of the biological need for women to feed children, because as you know, men can lactate too and they don't have huge breasts. But that's another story).

So your preference for the ass goes way back to our primate ancestors! Haha.

  5. I keep myself healthy by making my own choices in life and not accepting society's given path. By doing exactly what I want, when I want, I keep away the stress that normal people deal with on a day to day basis.

I also pray to the Flying Spaghetti Monster, Arthur Guinness and Phillip Morris on a daily basis.

Are you a Pastafarian? I just googled the Flying Spaghetti Monster. I can't believe I spent 21 years in this world not knowing who He/She/It was.

Oh, by the way, Phillip Morris reminds me of my beautiful grandmother. She used to smoke those. I haven't seen her for a year now. She's in Palawan island soaking up the sun and feeling the breeze in her short purple hair, while managing a beach side restaurant. You go Mommy!

  6. Imagine the nut cases that would even want to marry her. And one of them is a lawyer! How would you like to be his client?

I can't imagine anyone wanting to marry her - and her lawyer too. Maybe it's the love potion hahaha.

Squeaky Fromme, another Manson follower who was not part of the Tate-LaBianca murders, also was recently released on parole from federal prison. She served almost 35 years for pointing a loaded gun at President Gerald Ford. Or at least, the gun was sort of loaded...bullets in the magazine, but not the chamber. She is 60 years old now, and when she was released, she was being held at a federal prison for sick inmates in Texas, so it wouldn't surprise me if she's ill and dies soon, too.

I'm not one to wish harm on anyone, but I am not in any way saddened by her painful death. Good luck to her soul.

    ---

By the way, I watched the Helter Skelter movie when I was a kid. Gave me bad dreams.

  7. Started smoking young, at around eighteen, but wasn't much of a smoker through. I stopped at twenty when I learned I was pregnant and I haven't smoked ever since. The same with booze as well. I think I need a little bit of alcohol in my system to keep myself healthy.

I walk daily for at least thirty minutes in the morning, and I keep myself active. Having a 1 year old child gives you no excuse to not be active. Im always chasing after her, carrying her and doing a lot of stuff with the baby in tow. But it's fun, though.

I take in multivitamins and Virgin Coconut Oil. I take VCO capsules (hate drinking oil), but I use VCO based products for the body.

    Hmmm. What else?

Oh, I've been trying to get more fresh produce inside my refrigerator. Since I do the groceries, I make sure that at least a third of what I buy is fresh fruits, vegetables and good grains. Meat is still good - but in moderation.

If there's one bad habit I can't give up, its soda. I love soda. I love Coke. I can drink a can of coke per meal if no body stops me, and I can do it all day. I've been trying to curb my habit, though, so I get at least one 8oz glass of soda each day.

  8. We usually have Fruit Salad for dessert during parties and events. You might want to try this as well.

1 big serving bowl of Mixed fruits cut into bite size pieces. Some common fruits are papaya/pawpaw, mangoes, bananas, pineapples boiled in sugar and water, avocados and lychees. Or you can simply use a huge can of fruit cocktail in syrup.

2 small bottle of nata de coco (red and green)

    1 small bottle of kaong

2 cups of heavy cream or all purpose cream

    3/4 cup of condensed milk

2 cups of grated coconut meat (buko)

    1. Wash and drain the fruits (fresh/canned).

    2. Drain the bottles of nata de coco and kaong.

    3. Mix the fruits, nata de coco and kaong together in a large serving bowl

    3. Mix in the grated coconut as well.

    4. In a separate bowl, take the heavy cream and pour in half of the condensed milk. mix them together. Check the taste for desired sweetness. Add in more condensed milk to achieve desired sweetness.

    5. Pour the cream and milk mixture on the fruits and mix them together.

    6. Chill or freeze the fruit salad mixture and take out to serve.

You can also serve the fruit salad individually in little cups or goblets. Top with whipped cream and a cherry. :)
