Anyone else think the Justice Department should have better things to do with their time than negotiate with the Swiss over a 31 year old bail skipping warrant on Roman Polanski?
What could this possibly accomplish other than making the victim's life a living hell once more?
It would be like them trying to enforce my ex-wife's alimony payments on me when I haven't been in the United States in more than nine years!
Lots of better things for Justice to do!

Did Charley M write back?

If we don't do anything - there's only one thing for certain, chaos and death. I believe this is high time for the government to take action. And In the next few days, we get to see how the government deals with this.

The government probably can't do worse than the Katrina response.
Heckuva job Brownie.

Is it because of the quality of the motorbikes, or the style of driving? Or because of the roads?
It's the quantity of motobikes.
Although I suppose more traffic lights would help somewhat.
Btw, it's not all that unusual to see four people on one motobike.

Here's one deal.
These prices are higher than the going rate but the typical farang probably wants the psychological comfort of being in the Thailand's most highly regarded hospital.
This does not mean you'll get the best boob job here.

A few weeks ago, I visited a friend in a hospital who had all kinds of pins inserted into her leg.
If you're in Pattaya or Bangkok there's no need to rent a bike. I don't take mototaxis eitehr.
A small out of the way island (not Phuket) is a different story.

Adding a Travel sub-forum is easy and a good idea. Thanks. Beneath each forum we have a description. What would you suggest for this one?
Something similar to this:
Transportation & Travel
All information regarding travel including Planes, Trains, Busses, and other travel related information and tips.

Btw, ladyboys here use the female bathroom.
That's a big issue for transgenders in the West but a non-issue here in the LOS.

Hi All,
I'm a new member her. I really interested go to thailand for vacation.
Anyone have tips for backpakers? coz I have budget limitation but I really want go to thailand
thank you so much
Tip number one involves frequent flyer miles. If you don't have any perhaps a relative can give them to you.
You might be able to arrange a trip where you get to go to two countries for the same amount of miles as just one country, since you're allowed one layover and it can be for months.
The Bangkok backpacker scene is centered around Khao San Road.
For the beach, the backpacker's favorite is Ko PhanGan. Every full moon they have the world's largest all night rave.
I'd also advise you to not do any illegal drugs. You can abuse generic pharmacuticals though I'm certainly not recommending this.

One day I took a tuk tuk that included the gem store/tailor shop tour. A nice cheap way to see the city as long as you don't buy anything. Also took me to an obscure shrine. Not sure if this was to legitimize the trip or another kickback scheme due to the offereing box.
Do the drivers get paid a flat fee kickback or if someone buys gems to they get a percentage?

I have the low end 1000 baht Nokia, model number is not on the phone.
Suits me just fine and don't have to worry about losing it.

It doesn't, just reminded me of childhood memories.

Well. Basic question. Some of you may be residing in Thailand. Some of you may have been born there, but may now be living somewhere else. Some of you may have been born and may have lived somewhere else for most of your life, but have chosen Thailand as your home. Or, some of you may have visited the country at least once, twice or a couple of times during you life. Or lastly, some of you may never have been to Thailand.
But all the same, we're here visiting this site. So tell me, what is it about Thailand that you love?
Friendly people.
Smiling all the time is akin to the power of positive thinking.

Would you trust what a tuk tuk driver had to say?
Maybe for the 0-10 post category?

I suppose there are agencies that can plan surgery-and-vacation-trips for Thailand?
Best to avoid the middleman IMHO.

I have a close gay friend who wants only lady boys.
Everyone is different, which is why I say to you to try some lady boy bars to see if they appeal to you or not.
Thailand is a country where you do not have to be embarrassed or ashamed if you like lady boys.
Strangely enough most guys who prefer ladyboys consider themselves straight.

20 subforums and none for travel deals.
I stock an airfare post in the Biking section but I get the sense you want to keep it pure and airfare threads generally dominate travel sub forums.

20% off in Oct and Nov if you book before the end of Sept.
Mods, please move to whichever sub-forum is most appropriate.

Tuk Tuk Driver and Pok Pok Vendor might be worthy of consideration.

If I restricted to Italian, I'd have to eat my Monday and Thursday meals at the LK Rennasaince in Pattaya.
Monday, all you can eat pasta and all you can eat lasagna on Thursday.

Have you ever read Hunter Thompson's "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas?"
That's what Thailand is all about. The death of the American Dream and true freedom and good food and hot boys and girls. It's about letting yourself go and then when you go home not telling people exactly what you did because you want it on the QT and very, very hush, hush.
"We were somewhere around Barstow on the edge of the desert when the drugs began to take hold."
I'd say that's what Pattaya is all about.
But I wouldn't extrapolate the vibe of Sodom By The Sea to the entire Kingdom.

In the 60's there was an amusement parkm in the northeast Bronx called FreedomLand.
The tore it down and built Co-Op city, low end coops for the middle class.
FWIW Palisades amusement park was much better than FreedomLand.
They bulldozed Palisades to build Winston Towers, a somewhat more higher end
housing project.
Palisades had the world's largest saltwater pool, lots of rides and arcades and also rock n rill shows.

Freedom Land
Used to be in the Bronx but now it's Co-Op City.
