Sixty bucks seems high but worth it if you can obtain enough miles.
Exactly.
Rule of thumb is that miles are worth about a penny each.

Thousands of people have been trapped under flattened buildings and 13 have been confirmed killed after a powerful earthquake in western Indonesia.

New York has almost public transportation to JFK. Like you say you have to switch to the monorail, but how long did that take NY to come up with that system? I guess the taxi lobbyists were very powerful.
And you still can't get to LaGuardia by rail.
-
Can you get there by baht bus?

Powerful earthquake off the coast of Sumatra. It was thought a tsunami might be generated that would threaten the Andaman Coast of Thailand but it appears that the earthquake./tsunami will not affect Thailand.
-
That is horrible.
God bless the survivors.
Very sad.
How far inland or how high up must one be to be safe from a typical tsunami?

The law in Pattaya, not sure about the rest of Thailand is that adults must wear helmets but children are exempt. Go figure.

I don't believe tourists really care how the government was elected. Economics probably has more to do with the decline in tourism than any other one thing. The airport closing didn't help either.
I agree 100%.

Never quite got the fascination people get from gems.

New York City is not a direct link to JFK. But rather the subway and then switch to a monorail. But still much better than a taxi for the budget minded traveler.

Cannot edit my original post to reflect 60 bucks.
There is probably a time limit in which to edit posts.

60 bucks.
Not baht.
My bad.

Seemed windy here recently, perhaps something to do with the typhoon.

Let's move onto the slow stuff which I suppose is Barbra's strong suit.
Here's Ella's version of Bewitched. It sounds real and you can feel the subtle sexuality.
Now Barbra just sounds affected and phoney (to ME that's what makes life interesting we all have different tastes)

Some people build a nice little collection by renting DVDs, burning the ones they want and returning them. Not saying this is what I do or anything.
That's what this guy used to do at Tower Records.
And for every 10 rented you get one free. After 10 returned CDs that he burned he'd get one for free, something that he wanted as an original.
He did this hundreds of times.
Tower Records is now out of business.

An example of the songs that I prefer female vocalists to perform is Stuff Like That There.
The original recording was in 1945 by Betty Hutton and Bette Midler did an excellent cover.
Here's the Kelly Clarkson version.

Pattaya Pattaya, love that song.

transgender or into cross-dressing
Being transgender is a way of life, identifying as the other sex.
Crossdressing is a fetish, not that there's anything wrong with that.
-
This could just be my own ignorance on the topic, but I thought a "ladyboy" was a term specifically for a transgender or transsexual prostitute and just figured there was some other term for a Thai who was transgender or transsexual and not a prostitute. Am I wrong about this?
Most ladyboys are not prostitutes.
Ladyboy would more or less be the English equivalant of the Thai word katoey.
-
My understanding is that most men, around the world, who want to have sex with transexuals consider themselves straight. There's some logic to this, in that they are not attracted to the male form. It's the female form that turns them on. Yes, they want that female form to include a cock, but if that cock was attached to a male looking body it would break their attraction.
That bascly sums up the way most ladyboylovers feel.

Okay, maybe some time for a little humor?
The model is Areeya circa 2004. The original pic without the Mastercard joke is on asiants.com.

Lagos is not in the running.
Lagos is the type of place where you're not even safe in your car at a red light.

A friend was playing some of her early stuff and there were some songs I liked but I can't remember their names.
I prefer fun upbeat music and that's not Barbra's style.
Good pipes though.

Getting an United Mileage Plus credit card is a good idea if they still have the promotion that gives you 30K ff miles for signing up. That's half a trip to Thailand.
60 baht annual fee, before the first renewal ask them to remove the fee and they will probably comply, if not cancel the card.
As for credit cards in general, if you can't afford to pay off your monthly balance in full, then you can't afford what you were going to purchase.
