  1. That's what cooking is all about; tweaking dishes to your own taste.
  2. I used Turbo Tax for many years and have never had a problem. Lucky, I guess!
  3. Regarding olive oil, I have heard the same as you, but I use extra virgin all the time. The only downside I see is it is more expensive. The carbonara recipe I use is: Spaghetti Carbonara Ingredients Serves 4 to 6 • 1/2 cup diced pancetta or bacon • 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper • Coarse salt • 1 pound spaghetti • 6 large egg yolks • 1/4 pound Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese, grated Directions Fill a large pot with water and bring to a boil over high heat. In a large skillet over medium heat, slowly cook pancetta or bacon until the fat has been rendered and the pancetta or bacon is crisp. Add pepper and remove from heat. Generously salt boiling water (it should be as salty as sea water) and return to a boil; add pasta. Cook pasta until al dente. Drain pasta, reserving 4 tablespoons of pasta water. Add reserved pasta water to skillet. Place skillet over low heat, add egg yolks, and gently swirl pan to combine. Add pasta, pancetta or bacon and cheese; toss to coat. Serve immediately on warmed plates. May add ¼ cup heavy cream with the egg yolks for added richness. Unless you already have high cholesterol, don't worry.
  4. Coming from Sukhumvit if you get to Tuk Com, you have gone too far. It is best to start looking on the left after you cross 3rd Rd.
  5. I don't know how many K's, but It is just past 3rd Rd. on the left side. It is easy to spot. It looks like a Chinese temple.
  6. It sure makes me want to buy a ticket to Phuket. Not!
  7. From Jomtien go north on Thrappaya Road to Pattaya Tai (where all the songtiew line up to go to Jomtien) and turn right. It is not far past Tuk Com on the same side of the road.
  8. It's only common courtesy to pay an agreed upon price.
  9. I tried to return one day early on an AirAsia trip due to illness and I was required to buy a new ticket.
  10. A good hand washing is essential no matter what method of cleaning is used. Good had washing: 20-30 seconds of vigorous washing with soap and warm water followed by a thorough rinsing allowing the water to drip off the finger tips.
  11. I use my US debit card to make internet purchases all the time.
  12. It would probably be best to talk to the branch manager and present your case to him/her.
  13. The money is held until I cancel the card. The rate is 20% on unpaid balance.
  14. My bf downloaded it FREE from the internet and he likes it. He did say that he is not sure how long the free Windows 7 is good, but so far so good.
  15. Sometime ago I applied for a credit card from SCB. I had to deposit the amount I wanted as my credit limit into an account and they hold the passbook for that account. It is the same as a secured credit card in the US. At least I have a credit card to use here.
  16. You may know that the place is notorious, but anyone else reading the newspaper article wouldn't necessarily know that. If the police want to protect tourism they should find a reason to close the place down.
  17. From the owner's point of view, yes; from a customer's point of view, it could be cause to leave the restaurant.
  18. 24 rolls of toilet paper will last a long long time in Thailand.
  19. It turns out she was right.
  20. Thank God the airlines no longer allow smoking on board.
  21. I have to agree with you about other's recommendations. When I was going to KL for the first time a know it all type told me, "Why would you go there? It is dirty and the people are dirty and smelly". When I came back from an extremely enjoyable trip, I asked this guy which KL he had visited. KL is nothing like he said. I found it to be a cleaner city than BKK and the people certainly were far from dirty and smelly. This same guy highly recommended a restaurant here in Pattaya. Three of us went to try it out and we all agreed that it probably was the worst meal we'd had in Thailand. When my bf asked the waitress (in Thai) what was good on the menu, she replied. "Nothing is good here.")
