Wino Posted September 25, 2009 Report Posted September 25, 2009 Ruth Bader Ginsburg was hospitalized overnight for treatment of anemia. Seems anemia is a side effect of the chemotherapy she is receiving for her pancreatic cancer. Pancreatic cancer is a hard cancer to beat. Let's hope the 76 year old justice can win this battle. Does anyone remember who was number two and three on the list behind Sonya Sotomayor?
smoker Posted September 25, 2009 Report Posted September 25, 2009 He should nominate Palin. The hearings alone would be worth it.
Wino Posted September 25, 2009 Author Report Posted September 25, 2009 He should nominate Palin. The hearings alone would be worth it. That would be a good show, but I don't think Sarah is a lawyer, is she?
smoker Posted September 26, 2009 Report Posted September 26, 2009 There's nothing in the Constitution that says you have to be a lawyer in order to be on the Supreme Court. Given some of the decisions the current court has made I'd say that clowns, serial killers, car salesmen and Delta Burke might do a better job.

Given some of the decisions the current court has made I'd say that clowns, serial killers, car salesmen and Delta Burke might do a better job. How right you are. Since there are no set rules or qualifications for a Supreme Court nominee, my ten year old nephew could sit on the court if nominated by the president and passed by the senate. That being said, I do not believe there has been a Supreme Court justice in our history that has not been a lawyer.

Beer Chang Posted September 29, 2009 Report Posted September 29, 2009 Delta Burke was hot. Just sayin'. Although all Supreme Court justices have been lawyers some have not been judges, Earl Warren being one example.
smoker Posted September 29, 2009 Report Posted September 29, 2009 I think the court needs more diversity. Seriously, being a lawyer is nice and all, but if it's all lawyers that really limits them. I think adding someone like Michael Jordan who could bring a good jump shot or Jenna Bush who could teach them how to do Jager shots would balance things out.
Wino Posted September 29, 2009 Author Report Posted September 29, 2009 I think Bill Clinton or Al Gore might be a good choice.
WannaGo Posted September 30, 2009 Report Posted September 30, 2009 Maybe Obama could appoint this guy... ...so Scalia can have some company.
smoker Posted September 30, 2009 Report Posted September 30, 2009 If he appointed Glenn Beck, Beck would shut up.
Wino Posted October 2, 2009 Author Report Posted October 2, 2009 If he appointed Glenn Beck, Beck would shut up.Don't count on it. The guy doesn't know when to shut up.
WannaGo Posted October 3, 2009 Report Posted October 3, 2009 Don't count on it. The guy doesn't know when to shut up. If he ain't talking, he's bawling.
CrazyExpat Posted October 3, 2009 Report Posted October 3, 2009 I think former President Clinton is a perfect choice for the nomination. Qualified and would add great charisma to the court.
Beer Chang Posted October 3, 2009 Report Posted October 3, 2009 I think former President Clinton is a perfect choice for the nomination. Qualified and would add great charisma to the court. I agree. And I think President Taft served on the Court after his term.
Wino Posted October 3, 2009 Author Report Posted October 3, 2009 I think former President Clinton is a perfect choice for the nomination. Qualified and would add great charisma to the court.I would sure like to see this happen, although I don't believe Clinton would take the job. He is having too much fun doing what he does now. How about Al Gore?
smoker Posted October 4, 2009 Report Posted October 4, 2009 Clinton wouldn't take it. Right now he gets to hang out in the cool part of Harlem and travel the world banging discreet chicks wherever he goes. He'd never trade that for the type of non-media existence the Supreme Court demands.
lvdkeyes Posted October 4, 2009 Report Posted October 4, 2009 Do you think he would risk the wrath of Hillary?
Beer Chang Posted October 4, 2009 Report Posted October 4, 2009 Woodward's book about the Supreme court was pretty good. Made Burger look like an idiot though.
Wino Posted October 4, 2009 Author Report Posted October 4, 2009 Do you think he would risk the wrath of Hillary?I think after all these years and the crap he has done, Bill has Hillary very well trained.
smoker Posted October 5, 2009 Report Posted October 5, 2009 He and Hillary really don't see much of each other.
Wino Posted October 5, 2009 Author Report Posted October 5, 2009 He and Hillary really don't see much of each other.I should think they both like it that way.
smoker Posted October 6, 2009 Report Posted October 6, 2009 No doubt. He gets all the trim he wants in Harlem and she gets to fly around the world kicking ass.
Wino Posted October 6, 2009 Author Report Posted October 6, 2009 No doubt. He gets all the trim he wants in Harlem and she gets to fly around the world kicking ass. A win-win situation. Too bad more couples can't work things out like that. You would have thought Prince Charles and Diana could have worked out a suitable arrangement.
Beer Chang Posted October 6, 2009 Report Posted October 6, 2009 I should think they both like it that way. It would probably be better for most couples in they didn't spend every night together.
