smoker Posted October 10, 2009 Report Posted October 10, 2009 Paris Hilton has many, many worse offenses under her belt.
lvdkeyes Posted October 10, 2009 Report Posted October 10, 2009 Has he ever uttered a word that made any sense?
Wino Posted October 10, 2009 Author Report Posted October 10, 2009 Paris Hilton has many, many worse offenses under her belt.Oh take it easy on poor Paris, girls they just wanna have fun.
Jamie-nangrong Posted October 11, 2009 Report Posted October 11, 2009 When people, mainly movie stars etc say ''it's like really good, or it's like nice''....it's not ''like'' it either is or isnt. Another irritant is...''at this moment in time'' of course it is! An elaborate way of saying nothing. Have you ever watch Star Trek? At the beginning it says...''to boldly go where no man has gone before'' then the movie starts and when they get to where they are going there is always someone there!!!! In any case we don't boldly go we go boldly (we don't quickly run we quickly) but thats Americans for you, ruining the English language ;-)
lvdkeyes Posted October 11, 2009 Report Posted October 11, 2009 Don't start on the American version of the language. I hear Brits on TV murdering the language everyday.
Beer Chang Posted October 11, 2009 Report Posted October 11, 2009 litteraly when they really mean extremely figureatively
Thaimo Posted October 11, 2009 Report Posted October 11, 2009 but thats Americans for you, ruining the English language"This is the type of pedantry up with which I shall not put." - commonly attributed to Winston Churchill
Wino Posted October 11, 2009 Author Report Posted October 11, 2009 but thats Americans for you, ruining the English languageHave you ever talked with an Englishman with a cockney accent?
WannaGo Posted October 12, 2009 Report Posted October 12, 2009 Have you ever talked with an Englishman with a cockney accent?I think I'd rather get stoned and try talking to my cat...again.
lvdkeyes Posted October 12, 2009 Report Posted October 12, 2009 I had a cockney bf in UK. Verbal communication wasn't easy. What I find worse than difficult accents is people who truly butcher the language.
Wino Posted October 12, 2009 Author Report Posted October 12, 2009 I had a cockney bf in UK. Verbal communication wasn't easy. What I find worse than difficult accents is people who truly butcher the language. What do you mean "people who truly butcher the language?"
lvdkeyes Posted October 12, 2009 Report Posted October 12, 2009 I mean people who don't know when to use "you" and when to use "I", gone/went and generally use bad grammar.
Wino Posted October 13, 2009 Author Report Posted October 13, 2009 I mean people who don't know when to use "you" and when to use "I", gone/went and generally use bad grammar.People that butcher the language are usually poor and uneducated. I feel sorry for them. I find the language snobs more annoying. People that think they are so superior. I have no use for that type.
Beer Chang Posted October 13, 2009 Report Posted October 13, 2009 What do you mean "people who truly butcher the language?" How about this
lvdkeyes Posted October 13, 2009 Report Posted October 13, 2009 I hear incorrect grammar on TV all the time by anchors. They are supposedly educated and certainly not poor.
Wino Posted October 13, 2009 Author Report Posted October 13, 2009 How about thisAnd he is a Yale graduate!
Beer Chang Posted October 13, 2009 Report Posted October 13, 2009 And he is a Yale graduate! And a Harvard MBA.
Wino Posted October 13, 2009 Author Report Posted October 13, 2009 What money can't buy!And Daddy's influence. Junior was able to play flyboy instead of a tour in Vietnam.
lvdkeyes Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 What about people who use "That" instead of "Who" when referring to people. For instance, I saw a man that was blind." It, more correctly, should be "I saw a man who was blind."
Wino Posted October 14, 2009 Author Report Posted October 14, 2009 I try not to be annoyed with little things. Why sweat the small stuff? Ask yourself: will this matter a year from now?
WannaGo Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 The ones who kill me are the people who've been taught better, but still talk like sister-fucking rednecks or gangbanging hood rats and are actually proud of the fact that they don't speak anything approximating proper English. Yes, confirming your ignorance with every word that falls out of your mouth is something that should always make you proud. Jackasses.
lvdkeyes Posted October 15, 2009 Report Posted October 15, 2009 Granted, it is not the most important thing in the world, but it is annoying and this is what this thread is about.
