Wino Posted October 8, 2009 Report Posted October 8, 2009 Here is an article about the most annoying word poll, http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20091007/ap_on_re_us/us_fea_lifestyles_annoying_words "Whatever" easily beat out "you know," which especially grated a quarter of respondents. The other annoying contenders were "anyway" (at 7 percent), "it is what it is" (11 percent) and "at the end of the day" (2 percent). Do you want to add any words or phrases you find annoying?
Bob Posted October 8, 2009 Report Posted October 8, 2009 It drives me nuts when somebody arguing a point starts out with "As a matter of fact,..." That usually means that what follows is mostly bullshit....hehe. Teen girls using the phrase "for sure!" is a bit daffy.....like their trying to mimic the brainless valley girls.
WannaGo Posted October 8, 2009 Report Posted October 8, 2009 I use "whatever" when I want to annoy my g/f. I disagree with "it is what it is" being on the list. I use that one not infrequently just to signal my basic philosophy of life...seems less pretentious than "que sera sera."
Beer Chang Posted October 8, 2009 Report Posted October 8, 2009 "que sera sera." Spanish for mai bpen rai.
smoker Posted October 8, 2009 Report Posted October 8, 2009 "whatevs" "irredgarless." "paris hilton."
lvdkeyes Posted October 8, 2009 Report Posted October 8, 2009 "Welcome", when shouted at me by girls outside the girl bars. That shrill high pitched word goes right through me.
lvdkeyes Posted October 8, 2009 Report Posted October 8, 2009 What's wrong with every, never and forever?
rucus7 Posted October 8, 2009 Report Posted October 8, 2009 What's wrong with every, never and forever?Often times they are used inaccurately, to express situations and perceptions thought to be certainties.
lvdkeyes Posted October 8, 2009 Report Posted October 8, 2009 Ah! In that case "always" should be included.
Wino Posted October 9, 2009 Author Report Posted October 9, 2009 Ah! In that case "always" should be included. How about permanently?
WannaGo Posted October 9, 2009 Report Posted October 9, 2009 Definitely with you on BFF. Also sick of hearing "on the ground."
lvdkeyes Posted October 9, 2009 Report Posted October 9, 2009 As I told my BFF, every time I hear these words I always and forever get annoyed and I think they should be permanently banned from usage.
smoker Posted October 9, 2009 Report Posted October 9, 2009 "Stop! You you under arrest!" always bothers me.
Wino Posted October 9, 2009 Author Report Posted October 9, 2009 Definitely with you on BFF. Also sick of hearing "on the ground." Forgive my ignorance, what is BFF? I figured out BFD...big fucking deal. In this case, I don't know what that last F stands for.
eleothegreat Posted October 9, 2009 Report Posted October 9, 2009 and if you get into a fight with each other, you're ex-BFFs
lvdkeyes Posted October 9, 2009 Report Posted October 9, 2009 Or "hit the ground running" "let's run it up the flagpole"
Wino Posted October 9, 2009 Author Report Posted October 9, 2009 best friends forever LOLAhhh, that's cute. What is so annoying about that?
lvdkeyes Posted October 10, 2009 Report Posted October 10, 2009 What's annoying about it to me is people who use it overdo it. Paris Hilton is probably the worst offender.
