I'm not an American and managed 8 out of twelve with only a general knowledge gleaned from an eye on the media

(and the odd guess...). If the majority of the people who did this were in fact American then the results are

indeed telling although dare I say not entirely surprising.

On some questions there were some demographic groups that scored less than 25% on some questions; scary cause random guessing will score 25%.

Same here. I thought it was rather easy.

Only got 10 right (I thought there were more casualties in Iraq last year than Afghanistan and I thought Japan held more of the US debt than China). But most of the questions were rather easy.

I took the thing again (for the purpose of finding out how many people scored 100%) and it notes that "2% of the public" did so. It'd be helpful, though, if the site published just how many people actually took the test.

Having seen Jay Leno's "Man on the Street" (or I think that's the name) where he questions people about even much simpler questions, my guess is that group would be lucky to get 2 or 3 questions right.

I hope Jay Leno has to hunt high and low for people that uninformed. I should not think those people are a true representation of the "Man on the Street."
