I'll be traveling with my family (2 adults and 2 older childern who are 18 and 21) to Bangkok in June and trying to plan my trip.  Can anyone recommend a certain area that we should stay in that is safe and convenient to see the city and all it has to offer?

for BKK, Chiang Mai, and possibly other cities in the south of Thailand.
