The
Thai Province of Trang is situated in the south of mainland Thailand
off the Indian Ocean. The Province has a population of about 595,
110 residents. The City of Trang is the administrative and commerce
capital of the Province. The port of Trang has for centuries been
an important port of call for merchant ships. The region is also
a leading producer of rubber. It is said that rubber in Thailand
was first introduced in Trang by Phraya Ratsadanupradit Mahison
Phakdi in 1899. Despite the region’s tourism potential, Trang
has only recently began to stake its claim in Thailand’s
lucrative tourism and travel industry.
Tourism and travel:
Trang is served by the Trang Domestic Airport with a number
of flights from Bangkok. The City is also linked to Bangkok by
an express rail passenger service. Trang is a tourist friendly
province, the beaches here are less populated and the area can
offer a quality yet low cost holiday destination.
The province’s main attractions are its serene beaches
and islands which include; the islands of Ko Kra Dan and Ko
Mook. Popular beaches here are; Had Chao Mai and Hat Pak Meng.
Other places to visit are; the Khao Chong Wildlife and Education
Centre and the Tone Teh Waterfalls.
