Typical
of a number of Southeast Asian Countries, the Thailand tourism
industry thrives on the fact that the Country can provide a quality
and
affordable
holiday even during peak season. Tourists especially from developed
Countries will find exchange rates favorable. The Country is relatively
peaceful and has a well developed tourism infrastructure including
quality transport and accommodation options. Bangkok is the most
expensive City though you will rarely feel so, unless staying at
an upper-range hotel.
Restaurants and Cafes:
Restaurants even the touristy and high class looking ones charge
between 50-100 Baht for a meal. A four course meal for two
at a trendy restaurant in Bangkok or Phuket will cost you about
$45. Burgers at Mc Donald’s cost about $2.
Public Transport:
Inter-city travel is very cheap and you would expect to pay
less than 50 cents to most destinations within a town. Taxis
are very affordable and don’t seem to be a luxury. You
however need to negotiate the fare with the driver prior to
boarding. Air travel within Thailand is very much affordable.
You can travel
to most domestic destinations for about $30 or less. Travel
to neighboring countries is also cheap; you can expect to pay
about
$90 for a flight to or from Malaysia.
Clothes:
Thailand is a haven for shopping addicts. The Country has a
large number of markets where you can buy good quality items
at bargain prices, making it unnecessary to pack a large wardrobe.
