The
telecommunication industry in Thailand is privatized and there
are a number of competitors in the field. Call costs are very cheap
and affordable. Calls within cities are charged at a flat rate
of 3 Baht regardless of the call duration. International calls
rates to the United States, Australia and Great Britain has in
fallen considerably in recent years.
Public Phone Booths:
Phone booths are in plenty in Thailand and can be found on streets,
outside post offices and shopping complexes. For local calls,
you can use the blue or silver colored booths which use coins.
The Green phones are a recent addition and require a phone card
to make a local call. Phone card can be purchased at post offices
and convenience stores.
For international calls you can use the blue and yellow booths.
These use a phone card which can be purchased at a post office
or licensed agent.
Mobile phone services:
Thailand has an extensive mobile communication network covering
most parts of the Country. Cheap handsets can be bought locally
and there are a number of service providers to select from.
