The
new taxis in Bangkok known as Taxi-Meter are metered taxis. These
taxis do not have any standard colors and can be identified by
the Taxi-Meter board at the top of the car or yellow and black
number plates. These taxis are plenty and easily available. They
are also very cheap and provide a comfortable means of transport.
The flag fall is 35 Baht and includes the first 2 km. Each km after
that attracts a fee of 5 Baht. It is advisable to carry loose currency
as obtaining change from the driver can sometimes be a problem.
Driving and Car Hire Services:
Traffic conditions especially in Bangkok are hectic during peak
periods. Road conditions and driver etiquette in the Country
are favorable. Car hire services are available at the arrival
lounge of the Bangkok Airport. Major Car hire companies in the
Country are; Avis, Hertz, Budget and Europcar. There are also
a number of local companies that can provide at times better
deals.
