Samut
Prakan is a central Thai Province situated at the mouth of the
Chao Phraya River off the Gulf of Thailand. The Province’s
administrative Capital is the City of Samut Prakan. This City’s
history dates back to the Ayutthaya Empire days. The City was constructed
between 1620 and 1628 and was an integral center and an important
port city. The City has a population of 378, 741 people and the
province has a population of about 1, 011, 692 residents. The province
and Samut Prakan City are reachable from Bangkok by road or railway.

Temples:
There are numerous temples and religious buildings found in
the province including; the famous Phra Samut Chedi, Wat Prodkatechatharm
and Wat Klang Worawihan.

Other attractions in Samut Prakan include; the Erawan Elephant
Museum, the Crocodile Farm, the Ancient City Park containing
replicas of historical buildings in Thailand, the Bang Pu Seaside
Resort and the Pom Phra Chulachomklao Fortress.
The Naval Museum: This museum situated on Sukhumwit Road houses
an interesting display of Thai Navy history featuring battleship
apparatus.
