Phuket
is a world famous Thai tourist destination popular for its unsoiled
white sandy beaches, resorts and clear, calm waters for water sport
and diving. Phuket is an Island off the Southern mainland of Thailand
east of the Andaman Sea and is the largest Thai Island. The Island
has an estimated 250,000 residents. The island is a major producer
of tin, and is also home to large plantations of rubber and copra.
Tourism is the main economic activity in Phuket employing a large
percentage of the local population. The Island has a rich multicultural
mix including; Europeans, Thai, Malay and Chinese peoples.

Being only about 48 km from its north to its south and 21 km
from east to west in distance, Phuket is a fairly small island
that can easily be covered in under a day by road. The beaches
off the island’s west coast are the most popular with
a variety of entertainment, restaurants and resorts located

by. Major beaches in Phuket are; Kata Noi, Patong, Karon Kamala,
Mai Khao, Nai Yang, Bang Tao, Surin and Nai Harn.
Other tourist attractions in Phuket are; the Phuket Aquarium
at Panwa Cape, the Thalang National Museum and the beautiful
Ton Sai Waterfalls. You can also enjoy a number of entertaining
activities such as bungee jumping, live theater, paintball and
Thai boxing matches.
