Ko
Similan diving and snorkeling trips:
Ko Similan is a nine island chain situated in the Andaman
Sea off the southern Thai mainland. The Island chain was declared
a marine national park in 1982 to protect the coral reefs lining
the islands and restrict fishing in the area. The Similan Islands
consist of; Bangu, Similan, Payu, Miang, Payan, Payang and Huyong.
The islands are reachable from the mainland by boats which can
be chartered. Day trips are organized by local operators though
camping is allowed in the main island of Similan.
The main attraction of the Ko Similan Marine Park is the beautiful
coral reef formations and the clear waters which make the area
to be ranked amongst the best snorkeling spots in the world.
Scuba diving is also very popular and you can view a wide range
of fish and marine wildlife in natural habitat.
